Hi, my name is Georg Gleeson, and I am a queer non-binary performer based in Naarm, Victoria. I actually grew up in Redcliffe, surrounding myself in singing and acting classes, and I ignored dance, and let's be real, I regret that now, but at the time I was so tunnel-visioned. I really wanted to be a mer-fairy princess, but I've had to settle for performer instead, I guess.

I moved to Naarm two years ago, where I was such a little baby queer. I went, you know, the she/they, they/she, they/them pipeline. It's real. It's canon. Moved to Melbourne, cut a mullet and started using they/them pronouns. And from there, I've been working my ass off as a musical theatre performer, looking for any opportunity I can to test gender norms.

I actually rocked up to an Opera Australia audition and went in with the masc ensemble in the dance call. I felt very out of place but it was a very awesome opportunity to express my queerness.

And in that, I've had opportunities now to play originally male roles. And I got to play my first non-binary character, which was such an amazing opportunity for me to really step in and explore my queerness. And I continue wanting to press, push on those norms that are set up in the musical theatre industry when it comes to gender expression. And that's kind of what I want to do with my career.
