Eli

Hello, I'm Eli. I'm a performer here in Brisbane, Magandjin. I moved here like over 10 years ago to study Contemporary and Applied Theatre at Griffith. And I've used it! I'm a performing person who gets paid for their work now, which is so cool.

I've worked with a few different independent theatre companies. I've consulted on plays with La Boite and I really love clowning and physical theatre. So this past year and now this year, 2025, I've been taking my clown, Turpentine, out and about, doing cool queer stuff - Eating fruit on stage, getting juicy, playing with neutral body.

I really got into my queerness, well, throughout my whole life, but my gender expression really started to thrive and develop and change during COVID when I had time to be myself at home safely. And it was a really exciting time. I got to grow out all of my body hair and really embrace different parts of me that I hadn't before. And I've just carried that on since “COVID has ended” since we've re-emerged into society.

I shaved my head for a performance the other day. The other day being Christmas. and I raffled it off and I did it live on stage and it was really, really fun. It was a ode to Moo Deng, our beautiful pygmy hippo, who we all love. She's just beautiful, bouncy, transformative, and so am I.

That's what I love performing for.
